Settlements Specialist

Eastern Express, one of our 5 five companies and one of the most experienced flatbed trucking companies in the United States, has an opportunity for a full-time, on-site Settlements Specialist in our Griffith, Indiana office.

In this role and as part of our Settlements Team, you will support Eastern’s truck drivers and terminals as you perform accounts payable tasks related to their settlements (pay) to ensure they are paid accurately and on time.

Responsibilities of the Position:

• Performing accounts payable/invoicing functions
• Corresponding with drivers, terminals, and internal staff about settlements, deductions, reimbursements, billing discrepancies, and related transactions
• Collecting and organizing load paperwork, including Bills of Lading and delivery receipts
• Monitor, sort, and prioritize group email and phone correspondence to ensure issues and questions are resolved in a timely and complete manner
• Investigating discrepancies to resolve any issues
• Data entry

Qualifications & Interpersonal Skills:

• Trucking, transportation, and/or DOT experience strongly preferred but not required
• Exceptional organizational and multi-tasking skills
• Ability to work in a collaborative, team environment where you will interact with a variety of people, including truck drivers, terminals, co-workers, and internal departments
• Strong communication skills with the ability to recognize and appropriately respond to tone in phone and email correspondence
• Customer service-oriented
• Proficient use of Microsoft Office – Excel, Word, and Outlook
• Aptitude for quickly learning and navigating a variety of computer programs, apps, and websites
• Bilingual English / Spanish a plus

Work Schedule & Benefits:

• Hours: In-office, Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM, based in our office in Griffith, Indiana

Physical Demands of the Position:

Work is performed in an office environment and requires the ability to operate standard office equipment and keyboards. Must have the ability to stand, walk, and sit; talk and hear, both in person and by telephone; and reach with hands and arms to lift and carry items up to 25 pounds.
