Eastern Express, one of our 5 five companies and one of the most experienced flatbed trucking companies in the United States, has an opportunity for a full-time, on-site Safety Compliance/Applications Associate in our Griffith, Indiana office.
In this role, you will be part of the team that processes applications for new truck drivers and works with drivers to collect and track their safety paperwork. You will also work with our terminal network, our operational departments, and alongside other members of our Safety Compliance/Applications Department, acting as a liaison between these groups to ensure our drivers stay in compliance with DOT (Department of Transportation) regulations.

Responsibilities of the Position:
- Reviewing and processing applications for new truck drivers, including running background reports to verify previous employment history and driving records
- Creating and mailing “welcome packets” to new drivers and agents
- Collecting and tracking DOT-required safety paperwork from our truck drivers via phone and email, including federal inspections, drivers’ record of duty status, CDLs (commercial driver’s licenses), medical cards, physicals, and annual motor vehicle reports
- Coordinating with our terminal network via phone and email to further assist drivers
- Auditing and organizing paperwork
- Entering and filing data into our electronic and paper storage systems
Qualifications & Interpersonal Skills:
- Trucking, transportation, and/or DOT experience strongly preferred but not required
- Exceptional organizational and multi-tasking skills
- Ability to work in a collaborative, team environment where you will interact with a variety of people, including truck drivers, terminals, co-workers, and internal departments
- Strong communication skills with the ability to recognize and appropriately respond to tone in phone and email correspondence
- Customer service-oriented
- Proficient use of Microsoft Office – Excel, Word, and Outlook
- Aptitude for quickly learning and navigating a variety of computer programs, apps, and websites
- Bilingual English / Spanish a plus
Work Schedule & Benefits:
- Hours: In-office, Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM, based in our office in Griffith, Indiana

Physical Demands of the Position:
Work is performed in an office environment and requires the ability to operate standard office equipment and keyboards. Must have the ability to stand, walk, and sit; talk and hear, both in person and by telephone; and reach with hands and arms to lift and carry items up to 25 pounds.
