Bessemer Management is a transportation company that provides comprehensive back-office support, management, and logistics services for several logistics/trucking companies. We have 90+ years of experience operating in multi-faceted transportation modes and are a dynamic and growing organization.

We are looking for a full-time, on-site Communications Manager.

This is not an entry-level role; this is a high-ownership position for a seasoned communications professional who is equal parts strategist, coordinator, and executor: someone who can get deep into the details, manage competing priorities, and make an organization look sharper, stronger, and more connected through excellent communication.

You’ll work with our Communications Director to plan, create, and execute internal and external communications projects across multiple audiences, brands, and departments.

This role isn’t for someone who needs constant oversight/guidance or prefers to work in slower, highly structured environments. It is, however, a great opportunity for someone who thrives on momentum, clarity, and being the person everyone knows they can count on.

Core Responsibilities:

  • Copywriting and copyediting across channels including email campaigns, text messaging, websites, intranets, print collateral, and social media
  • Planning, scheduling, disseminating, and tracking communications across multiple campaigns and audiences
  • Owning our social media presence: scheduling, monitoring engagement, responding to inquiries, and keeping content fresh
  • Content creation to support communications efforts, including basic graphic design, photography, videography, video editing, and podcast/audio (while it would be amazing if you had experience in all of these realms, experience with some is great as long as you are willing and able to learn/dabble in the things you don’t already know)
  • Coordinating with external vendors to ensure farmed-out creative projects (simpler and/or more complex) are coordinated, tracked, and seen through to completion
  • Creating, maintaining, and revamping training materials, presentations, and internal resources with a focus on clarity, engagement, and incorporating new concepts/technology over time
  • Managing recurring content upkeep (seasonal updates, rotating messaging, stale content refreshes, etc.) that may not require as much creative effort but is necessary to maintain our communications programs
  • Maintaining organized shared file structures, naming conventions, and collaborative workflows
  • Supporting communications strategy development alongside the Communications Director, especially being a liaison between internal departments to stay informed and pull everything together
  • Occasional travel to company locations (estimated 5-10%)

You are the right person for this role if:

  • You bring a project manager’s brain to communications. You naturally think in timelines, priorities, dependencies, and execution.
  • You are polished enough to work with C-suite leadership, grounded enough to collaborate with blue-collar teams, and emotionally intelligent enough to communicate effectively with everyone in-between.
  • You are exceptionally/obsessively organized.
  • You are ridiculously detail oriented.
  • You are proactive to your core.
  • You are tactical but enjoy dabbling in the creative.
  • You are a behind-the-scenes coordinator who takes pride in making things run flawlessly.
  • You don’t wait to be told what to do. You walk the office, pick up the phone, chase down answers, follow up, connect dots, and make things happen.
  • You do everything with a servant mindset: you know your job is to help, support, elevate, and make others more successful, and you are motivated by approaching your work in this way.

The intangibles: this role requires someone who can:

  • Seamlessly pivot between multiple active projects, knowing what projects are “glass balls” vs. “rubber balls” (what can/can’t be dropped related to the possible consequences)
  • Think three steps ahead: If A changes, what happens to B, C, and D?
  • Notice nuance: how people learn, work, communicate, and respond best, and adjusting your methods to make the most of every interaction
  • Probe when something doesn’t add up instead of blindly executing
  • Balance independence with excellent communication: you don’t disappear, you follow through
  • Bring energy, warmth, and professionalism, but still with enough edge to get things done
  • Be relied upon: no matter what, you will find a way and get things done

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in communications, marketing, or a related field
  • At least 5-7 years of hands-on professional communications experience
  • Mastery of written and verbal communication
  • Experience with or exposure to:
    • Canva or basic design tools
    • Website content management
    • Social media platforms and scheduling tools
    • Photography/videography/video editing
    • Basic podcast/audio editing
  • Strong project coordination skills across internal teams and external partners
  • Ability to simultaneously manage repetitive tasks and high-impact initiatives

Candidates should be prepared to provide writing samples and recent examples of creative work.

Work Schedule & Benefits:

  • Full-time, in-office role (Monday-Friday, 8:00 AM-4:30 PM)
  • Performance-based bonus plan
  • Complete benefits package including medical, dental, vision, and life insurances
  • 401(k) with company match
  • Vacation and holiday pay
  • Paid parental leave

Physical Demands of the Position:

Work is performed in an office environment and requires the ability to operate standard office equipment and keyboards. Must have the ability to stand, walk, and sit; talk and hear, both in person and by telephone; and reach with hands and arms to lift and carry items up to 25 pounds.
