Bessemer Management is a transportation company that provides comprehensive back-office support, management, and logistics services for several logistics/trucking companies. We have 90+ years of experience operating in multi-faceted transportation modes and are a growing organization.
We are looking for a dynamic, career-minded individual to support our company as an Accounts Payable Lead.
This position is full-time, on-site in our Valley View, Ohio office and reports to our Controller.
The Accounts Payable Lead is responsible for processing, analyzing, and managing high-volume accounts payable transactions for the organization, across 10-15 legal entities. This role ensures timely and accurate invoice processing, vendor payments, account reconciliations, and compliance with sound accounting practices.
Our ideal candidate is highly organized, detail-oriented, and entrepreneurial, with the ability to manage competing priorities in a fast-paced, shared services/multi-company environment while proactively identifying, recommending, and helping implement process improvements and efficiencies that benefit both the accounting/finance function and the organization as a whole.
Key Responsibilities:
- Process large volumes of vendor invoices accurately and efficiently across multiple companies and business units
- Manage charge documentation for credit card programs
- Review or obtain approvals and supporting documentation for invoices to ensure proper coding
- Resolve invoice discrepancies, pricing variances, and approval issues by collaborating with vendors and internal stakeholders
- Prepare and process weekly payment runs through checks, ACH, and other payment methods
- Ensure accurate intercompany allocations and transactions when applicable
- Respond to vendor inquiries and internal customer requests in a professional and timely manner
Non-Accounts Payable Responsibilities May Include:
- Miscellaneous bank deposits
- Other accounting-adjacent tasks
Qualifications:
Education:
- Associate or bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, business administration, or related field preferred
Experience:
- 7+ years of accounts payable experience in a high-volume environment
- Strong understanding of accounting principles and AP best practices
- Experience supporting multiple legal entities, divisions, or business units required
- Experience with ERP systems such as Great Plain and/or Microsoft Dynamics or similar platforms preferred
- Experience with new system implementation or process changes preferred

- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities appropriate with process ownership
- Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy
- Ability to manage high transaction volumes while meeting deadlines
- Ability to manage multiple priorities across several companies simultaneously
- Proficient in Microsoft Excel, including Pivot Tables and data analysis functions
- Strong organizational and time-management skills
- Effective written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team environment

- The work performed in this office environment requires the ability to operate standard office equipment and keyboards. Candidates must have the ability to stand, walk, and sit; talk and hear, both in person and by telephone; and reach with hands and arms to lift and carry items up to 25 pounds.
Work Schedule:
- Generally, Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM (on-site in Valley View/Cleveland, OH)
