Horizon Freight System and TRX, Inc., two of the Bessemer Management trucking companies and two of the most experienced intermodal trucking companies in the United States, have an opportunity for a highly motivated, career-minded individual to join our team as a Truck Driver Onboarding/Applications Coordinator.

This position is full-time, on-site in our Valley View, Ohio office.

In this role and as part of the Horizon/TRX Applications Team, you will be responsible for guiding truck drivers applying for work through our qualification process, working with our terminals to connect these drivers with the appropriate markets/business opportunities, and using a number of systems to verify and track information through the sign-on process. This will ensure a seamless experience for new drivers from initial application through final onboarding into our company.

Responsibilities of the Position:

  • Taking ownership of our company’s new driver onboarding process from start to finish, including reviewing and processing applications in a timely and thorough manner
  • Qualifying drivers based on their application, as well as through information you obtain via background checks, pre-employment screenings, safety record verifications, and Federal Motor Carrier motor vehicle reports
  • Assisting drivers, terminals, and other stakeholders throughout the application process, communicating progress along the way, and working to troubleshoot/problem-solve through issues that arise
  • Auditing, organizing, inputting, scanning, and indexing physical and electronic documentation into our internal systems

Additional Eventual Responsibility:

  • Conducting live, multi-hour orientation presentations using an interactive, online training platform to train new drivers on company expectations and guidelines, as well as share information about company services and program offerings

Qualifications & Interpersonal Skills:

  • Transportation/trucking industry knowledge (including experience with ELDs or electronic logs) preferred but not required
  • Bilingual English/Spanish preferred but not required
  • Exceptional attention to detail
  • Ability to multi-task
  • Strong communication and follow-up skills, including the ability to recognize and appropriately respond to tone in phone, email, and text message correspondence
  • Ability to interact with a variety of people, including truck drivers, terminals, vendors/customers, co-workers, and internal departments
  • Interest in learning about our industry, as well as our other internal departments, so you can apply that knowledge to further excel in your day-to-day responsibilities
  • Positive attitude and friendly demeanor

Work Schedule & Benefits:

Physical Demands of the Position:

Work is performed in an office environment and requires the ability to operate standard office equipment and keyboards. Must have the ability to stand, walk, and sit; talk and hear, both in person and by telephone; and reach with hands and arms to lift and carry items up to 25 pounds.
